Together Towards Community Empowerment: A Call to Fund Pedal 4 People and Open Shop Expansion

Hey, 2nd Cycle Community!

We're buzzing with excitement as we share a vital update and a call to action. In 2022, your incredible support helped us give away a whopping 117 bikes through our Pedal 4 People program. Plus, Open Shop has become a thriving space, especially for those facing financial challenges, providing them with the tools and support they need to keep their wheels turning in our Gerod Byrd Classroom.

These initiatives have become true lifelines for low or no-income individuals and youth in our community, but here's the scoop: we're facing a challenge. Despite the success of our recent annual fundraiser, Bike Stories (massive thanks to all who participated!), we find ourselves with a funding gap of $45,000. This gap is critical for sustaining and expanding these vital programs.

Why Your Support Matters:

The funds we aim to raise directly contribute to the continuation and growth of Pedal 4 People and Open Shop. These programs provide essential transportation resources, empower individuals with the skills to maintain their bikes, and create a sense of community and support.

How You Can Help:

1. Donate: Every dollar gets us closer to our $45,000 goal. Your financial support, no matter the amount, goes a long way.

2. Spread the Word: Share this post with friends, family, and on social media. The more people who know about our campaign, the closer we get to ensuring the success of Pedal 4 People and Open Shop.

3. Get Involved: Have creative fundraising ideas or want to volunteer? We'd love to hear from you. Contact us at [your email address] to discuss how you can contribute.

Why It Matters:

Pedal 4 People and Open Shop aren't just programs; they represent a commitment to providing access, support, and community to those who need it most. By supporting this campaign, you're directly contributing to a more inclusive and empowered community.

In closing, we want to express our deep gratitude for your ongoing support and dedication to the 2nd Cycle mission. Together, we can bridge the funding gap and ensure that Pedal 4 People and Open Shop continue to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those who rely on these programs.

Thank you for being an essential part of our community.

Ride on,

Leon Nettels

Executive Director

Second Cycle Community Cycle Center

In this heartwarming moment captured during Bike Stories, Adonis Byrd takes the stage to share the rich history of his family and their deep connection with Second Cycle. Adonis sheds light on the incredible contributions of his father, a community champion, whose legacy lives on through the impactful work of Second Cycle. We are privileged to have the classroom named in his honor, a symbol of the enduring spirit of community and service.
