A Community Tool Space
Open Shop Returns to Second Cycle on September 11th!

Second Cycle's Open Shop program is for folks who want to work on their own bicycle in a safe and supportive environment with access to professional tools and knowledge. Mechanics and volunteers are available to answer questions and guide you through many types of repair and maintenance projects while you turn the wrenches!

Open Shop is available Mondays and Saturdays from 10am-4pm in the Community Classroom located at 1207 MLK Jr. Way in Tacoma (next door to our retail shop.)

Space is limited to 4 customers at a time. First-come, first-served.

Please bring all parts that you will need for your project.

Besides tools and work stands, we also provide aprons and consumables like grease and chain lubricant.

This community resource is available on a sliding cost scale to meet your needs:

$15/hr ACCESS TO THE TOOLS, WITH NO STAFF ASSISTANCE ON REPAIRS/MAINTENANCE
-
$20/hr ACCESS TO THE TOOLS, WITH OCCASIONAL MECHANICAL ASSISTANCE FROM STAFF
-
$25/hr A SERVICE DEMONSTRATION IN ADDITION TO THE COST OF SERVICE
-
$90/hr GROUPS OF 4 OR MORE WITH ACCESS TO THE TOOL AND SERVICE DEMONSTRATION

Note: Customers who self-declare as low income or are experiencing homelessness, and youth under eighteen, have access to the Open Shop resources at a reduced rate or no cost.
