Steel Wheel Alleycat Youth Planning Committee - making moves!

What is an alleycat race?

Alleycats are unsanctioned community bicycle races, most often held in cities and urban areas. The informality of the organization is matched by the emphasis on taking part, rather than simple competition. For instance, many alleycats present prizes for the last competitor to finish.

Alleycats are essentialy scavenger hunts on bicycles.

What can I expect?

This years alleycat will have an emphasis on team participation and group costumes (although you do not have to be on a team to ride!) Participants will be given a list of 7 destinations in no particular order, and it will be up to riders to chose their routes. Upon arriving at each destination riders will have the option to complete a specific task and/or answer a trivia question related to that location. Successful completion of this will earn riders credit towards awesome raffle prizes! The more stops you include in your route, the more credits you earn!

How do I register? How long is the ride?

All registration will be held day of the event (May 11th, 2019). Registration will open at 1pm, and the ride will start at 2pm. Once you complete registration you will be handed your manifest, this means the sooner you show up to register the longer you will have to plan your route!

Once the ride starts, participants will have 3 hours to complete their route.

This is a free event with a 5 dollar suggested donation per participant. All proceeds will go to benefit youth programs operated by Alchemy Skateboarding / Grit City Grindhouse. You can learn more about their mission and programming by visiting https://alchemyskateboarding.org/skateshop
