Summer Update: Celebrating Our Achievements and Looking Forward

Hello, 2nd Cycle Community!

We’re thrilled to share all the amazing things we’ve accomplished and the exciting events we have coming up this summer. Since our last update, we’ve been busy creating new opportunities for our community, extending our availability, and launching new programs. Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to and what’s on the horizon!

Expanded Shop Hours

We are now open 6 days a week! Our new schedule is:

Monday to Tuesday & Thursday to Sunday: 10 AM - 5 PM

Closed on Wednesdays

New Partnerships and Weekly Rides

We’ve partnered with Riders 4 Recovery to host a weekly ride. Join us every Wednesday for "We Wednesdays" with Riders 4 Recovery, 2nd Cycle, and Recovery Beyond! Here are the details: A 7-10 mile bike adventure aimed at uniting people in trauma, mental health, and addiction recovery. Party pace at 10-12 mph on flats, slower on uphills, and let loose downhill. After the ride, join us for tasty treats and a recovery circle at 2nd Cycle.

Monthly Bike 101 Class

We have started a monthly Bike 101 class to teach adults the basics of bike mechanics. This class has been a great success, empowering more people to take charge of their bike maintenance. We have decided to take this to the next step and offer an Adult EAB Starting August 6th. Read Below for more details

Membership Benefits

We unveiled our new membership model, offering exclusive benefits:

1. Access to Our Recycle and Reuse Center: Get quality bicycles and accessories at discounted prices, contributing to our sustainable initiatives.

2. Community Tool Access: Exclusive access to our community tool workshop from 1-4 PM every day we’re open.

3. 10% Discount on All Purchases: Enjoy discounts on all purchases made at 2nd Cycle.

Youth Education Programs

Thanks to our partnership with Cascade Bicycle Club and WSDOT, supported by funding from Washington’s Climate Commitment Act, we’ve been able to offer numerous free youth education programs. These include:

Earn A Bike (EAB) Program: Teaching middle and high school students bike mechanics and safe riding practices.

Bike Club: Engaging students in cycling activities and education.

Summer Camp: Bringing back our popular camps for young cyclists.

We also have been collaborating with Safe Routes to School to host fun and educational events for younger children including Bike Rodeos and Traffic Gardens as well as a bike camp for younger individuals.
